more cowboy plumbers

just started tiling a bathroom yesterday. i am working with a plumber that i have not worked with before. the bathroom was to be a complete rip out and rebuild ie walls out reboard with hardie backer then tanked and tiled. customer is a old lady who has said you do what you need to do and give me the bill:yikes: when i arrived the walls were as see piccys, the plumber said that they were not going to bother tanking either(they were supplying the tanking) ok as long as the lady knows no probs, oh we are still charging her for it as she will never know the difference and we will share it with you. they are charging her £500 plus labour for not doing it.
no way mate i said i think you need to pay her a visit and explain to her before i do( lots of nasty swear words ). spoke to the ladies son who came round showed him what wasnt done but being charged for. he asked if was still possible to tile the room as it was. yes i said but it will need tanking atleast where the shower will be. fine he said you do that and ill pay the extra and i will be visting the plumber later that day. this guy was about 6 foot 6 and must have weighed in at 17 stone.dont think i will get more work from this plumber

i think the ladies son may very well do them some damage.
and your right i dont want to work with people like that i just cant understand how and why they would do it. ok the lady has a very big and expensive house this is one of 3 bathrooms but she was willing to pay them for top end products so there was no need to rip her off.

true mate to be honest business is not great here and money is tight....but id rather go broke and work in a shop than treat people like that.

Not sure if its just me............but I quite often do more than I quote for for the old dears. "Can you put a towel rail up for me son" which usually ends up being lav roll holder,soap dish, mirror etc etc.

i once got a call from an old lady in sheltered housing asking if i could fit towel rail soap dish etc 5 pieces all together. lived about 5 mins from me so said ok charged her £10.00. a week later she asked me to tile her kitchen and bathroom and also got to do her sisters bathroom and her sons kitchen floor....all from a tenner.

i once got a call from an old lady in sheltered housing asking if i could fit towel rail soap dish etc 5 pieces all together. lived about 5 mins from me so said ok charged her £10.00. a week later she asked me to tile her kitchen and bathroom and also got to do her sisters bathroom and her sons kitchen floor....all from a tenner.

we call it customer service, the scumbags probably think we are mugs

to be honest doug i dont think that i could have slept tonight if i hadnt,
the lady has left me to it and has said just help yourself to tea and coffee
and there is biscuits and cake in the fridge if your hungry.

Well done CJ for standing up for the old lady!!..that really is disgusting behaviour from the plumbers..people like them need to be named and shamed..there's profit and there's greed, the latter normally involves breaking the law, which is what they are doing by charging for something they're not doing..that really makes my blood boil...:incazzato::incazzato::incazzato:
