More pricing help! Travertine Mosaic....

Hello again, I need yet more help!

I have another estimate to do for something I haven't done so far.

It's kitchen walls about 4m2 and it is to be done in 5cm Travertine mosaics. Most of the wall will be tiled onto exsisting ceramic tiles. I have done mosaic but they were ceramic and I REALLY underquoted so fearful of doing it again.

I don't have a clue where to start other then use a white adhesive to stop staining and that I need to seal the tiles and wet cut only.

How much do i charge for sealing/when do i do it?
Is Whitestar ok?
What would you charge?

I think you should be looking about £200.... especially since you are going tile on tile with mosaics which need wet cutting... that is a bit slow.

Probably charge near trade price for the materials though.

So can I just use a tub adhesive? I was going to use whitestar is that ok to use?

Do I fix tiles to wall and then seal or do I seal before fixing and then again before grouting?

Personally I would use a cement based adhesive such as mapei keraquick as it doesn't rely so much on absortion to cure which could play a factor if tiling on tile. Ideally seal before you put them up or alternatively seal before grouting then seal again after, twice if possible.

Whitestar or mosaic fix,One coat of sealer before grouting,and tell customer to apply 1 more including grout lines 2 days after you have finished.Day rate should apply

Hi chaps, just pulling up and old thread of mine to ask a quick question.

I am quoting a job for the same tiles again, 5cm Travertine mosaic. 7m2 with what I would guess some pretty arkward bits and a quite a bit of cutting.

How much do I charge? I didn't get the first one in this thread but could really do with getting this job as I have nothing on after next week. I don't want to do it for nowt though.

Please all opinions welcome, how much do i go in at? I will be doing the sealing once the tiles are fixed with whitestar.

I'm getting about £350 all in but I think it will take a few days for me at least.

Did a job recently (for a builder) with same size mosaic but ceramic, kitchen splashback about 2.5m2 in total with 5 or 6 sockets. Billed £250 plus extra for edge trim and grout for job and was paid without query. Then again, I'm in a different area to you.

I'm doing a travertine mosaic at the moment. Its the first time I've done it and I seriously underestimated the time involved in doing it. I was supposed to finish today but I reckon I will be another two days.

22 sq m travertine mosaic on the wall and 11 sq m porcelain 300 x 300 on the floor. I quoted £1400 for it so even with the extra two days I'm still quite happy.
