got a call from the guy my old man works for the other day, asking me to price a job (40m2) galaxy quartz 450 x450mm(kitchen and hallway),was told as long as my price was similar to the other guys then i would get the job as he was recommending me and it was there company that had done the extension and fitted the kitchen, now this guy passes a quite a bit of work on to me but the customer hadn't decided at the time if he wanted the floor tiled,so i went round and had a look, gave the guy a price(£1000) including mats,i thought what the hell i have work on but not as much as i would like and these will be cracking photos for the web page.i know the price was low but i would still walk away with about £700 and odd for a weeks work.
anyway phones goes this morning while i'm working and the first thing that was said to me was" what the hell are you playing,i thought i told you to price the job sensibily and it was yours". this guy says you are asking for twice the price of his other quote.when i told him i was only looking for £1k he started to calm down, thinking i was probably going to price it between £12-1400.
anyway there looks as if theres someone local to me working for £12.5m2,understandable if your desperate and it's ceramics but galaxy quartz.I would love to see the end product on this one:thumbsup:

I think I would be around to that house Dave and talk the guy out of it if possible, if he goes ahead with that silly price and it all goes wrong then he has lost twice, the materials might be ruined. Just a little seed of doubt in his mind might make him think twice. Your price is low enough already.

i'm pretty sure the guy that told me to price it will say something to him, because he's a firm believer in what you pay for is what you get,he did say leave it with him so i'll give him a call and see what he says:thumbsup:
