Mosaic kitchen hell

Hi all , I have been doing a mosaic splashback in a over the last 2 days My problem being the tiles are black with a slight stipple on them, I used Bal Mosaic Fix witch is white and has came through the grout lines in some parts which I known I will have to clean out , also it is stuck on the surface on some parts as well and dried out.

Any tips for removing dried in adhesive on a stippled tile.

Grouting with black grout.
Used a 4mm mosaic trowel but still came through.
This is my fist mosaic job ( nightmare )

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would have used grey adhesive for black grout, If the mosaics are thin I tend to use the flat edge of the trowel and put 2mm of addy on so it dos'nt squeeze thru the joints.

Not tried it myself but I've heard a few people say they've used brick cleaner to do this or even a product called nanoscrub with a decent pad.

Why black mosaic with black grout?

I'm probably teaching you how to suck eggs here but.....

Work slowly and methodically with mosaics, try to get them on and not play with them too much.

Work clean and clean as you go.

Mosaic fix is good stuff but also a bugger, BAL should have called it everything fix cause its like superglue

Try and find a 3mm trowel and some people like to use a rubber float to move them in to place.

A lesson learned here Ian mate......wash them as you go and keep the joints and tiles clean..........

I've just done a mosaic splash back recently and as Dave says just clean as you go.
Have you tried a emulsifying pad to clean the addy off??

there are a few products on the market for removing addy on the face of tiles
but ive never used Bal Mosaic Fix so dont know how much of a hold it has

yep as stated work clean with mosaics, i use a 3mm v notch and tap and move into position with a rubber grout float

If you have any really bad areas where you just can't get the addy off then try a small brass wire brush in your drill.

Try this first on a test tile before you try on the wall tiles as the tiles might get marked, but try to do this only as a last resort.
