mosaic stripe

Hi guys and gals. just looked at a bathroom and the lady wants a mosaic stripe up the middle of one wall. im just wondering what method is best to do this. i was thinking fit the normal tiles up either side first then leave a perfect size gap for the mosaic. also how is the best way to stop the horizontal joints 'crushing' down ? Thanks in advance peeps....

- Set out field tiles first
- Spread suitable adhesive in area to be tiled with the mosaic (see relevant other threads on home made mosaic adhesive depth gauge spreader....... here is a recent thread.... http://www.tilersforums.com/tiling-forum/60720-installing-mosaics.html )
- Fix mosaic....use spacers at regular intervals to prevent "crushing down" if you find it needs it. Most advanced adhesives (mixed correctly) have fantastic grab properties all by themselves

I find this stuff quite good, if (they generally do) they need packing out.

I've used those a fair bit and they do work although a bit dear. Also starting at the top of the wall will help.

A bit of masking tape, across the mosaics will help keep them up.
Get the depth right, and the right adhesive- at the correct consistency, you shouldn't need it.
