mosaic tile advice

hello

im tiling a bathroom with 250-330mm white tiles

the customer wants one thin strip of black mosaics put onto the wall in between the white tiles, floor to ceiling, central of the wall.

can i use the same adhesive that im using for the tiles. Im using mapei bagged non flexible addy.

any other info i should i know about putting these mosaics in, because they have only just sprung this on me.

what thickness are the mosaics and the white tiles. i only ask as a recent customer sprung mosiacs on me which were only 3mm thick and the tiles were 10mm thick.

Hi golddigger

Run your main tiles first with the gap for the mosaics

Then bed your addy for the mosaics in the gap with a scraper, allowing for the thickness of the mosaic. you can then set the mosaic pushing into place with either an epoxy float or something flat to level the mosaics to the same plane as the surrounding tiles.

I would use a flexible addy. Always use it as your hedging most of your bets

If the mosaics are a lot thinner than the field tiles you can always get a few cheap thin tiles to cut into strips and add them to the back of the mosaics to even them all out if needed.

i cemented 6mm plasterboard cut to size to the existing plasterboard.worked well.

why must i use flexi addy, ive got non flexi now so its to late. is that ok?

And what is the substrate, non flex for ceramic on concrete flexi for anything else !!

the substrate is gypsum plaster and plasterboard,

the mosaics are made of glass, different colours?

the tiles are 8mm thich and the mosaics are probably half as thin.

the addy is mapei rapid set grey, from tile giant

so are we sure im ok with non-flexy addy as ive already done most of the walls?? as someone said something about concrete substrates?
