Mosiac Floor - Which trowel

Customer for a job in a few weeks has had a last minute burst of creativity and decided that she is moving away from the 300 x 300 cermics to 20mm mosaics 5mm thick.

This is for a bathroom floor only a small area 3m2 and its going to be plyed out and will be solid.

Im going to be using mosiac fix, but this is the first mosiac floor i've ever done and im not 100% on which trowel is the weapon of choice.

3mm mosic trowel still good with it being a floor? Would a square notch or V be better?

not sure tbh Oli, but I'm thinking that you'd get a better solid bed with v notch, interesting to see what others say!

A 3mm mosaic trowels teeth are close together so you get a good bed every time.....

i think my mosaic trowel has a gap of around 3mm between notches.

I would use a solid bedding trowel with carbide runners and 3mm notches, once the addy is combed it leaves a 3mm solid bed with 3mm notches on top.Also very good for wetroom trays.

I'd always go for the 3mm square notch, moresolid/reliable feel to it.... I even have a fairly flexible mini plastic one for my small straight on top of uneven rockery rock projects that works a treat....the v notch one just feels wrong...

I use a c-notch 3mm, but sometimes the 3mm v notch (the one with no spaces between the notchs.
If the mortar is oozing up the grout lines after you beat them in then your notch is too big.
I have a rubber float made by superior which is the perfect mosaic beater, far better than a hammer and board.

Im sure a 3 mm square notch gives 90% coverage, so it will be fine
