Raking out and regrouting 300m2 of 200x100 walls:prrr:

Some other 'tilers' had done it previously - what a mess:mad2:

OUCH!

Most tedious for me was taking up a floor that was laid with 2 part flexible crumb (ultra i think)

SDS no good as the tiles just vibrate on the rubber, same with hammer and chisel. Tried to lift ply and pulled up floor boards with it. Luckily who ever laid the ply had scrweed in 200mm centres perfectly and i had to smash though the face of the tile and undo each screw individualy.

Prices £60 and took over 2 days with 2 of us!

tried re-grouting around my bath the other week, dont know if i done it right, but it just chips and damages the edge of the tile, by the time you have done it all and the hassle you would be as well re - tiling!

It is worth investing in the brilliant Fein Multitool and spending an extra £50 on their diamond cutter. Used it several times cutting out grout and never marked a single tile. And it is surprising how quick it is to remove the grout. Also includes a dust extraction which works very well with my Trend T30 extractor in reducing dust generated by the cutting.

In fact I recommend the Multitool as £175 well spent for any tiler. Comes with attachment to grind out adhesive from walls if you remove a damaged tile for perfect refit of replacement. Also a wood cutter that is great for cutting bottom of door frames to make perfect floor tile laying around door frames. And a blade that gets Silicon off tiles without damaging the tile.

I don't work as a rep for Fein. Honest! :disguise:
