Ceramico tiling

Do tiles level themselves out slightly?Because today I had to lay a floor at a very light slope to meet up with the carpet in the adjoining room but When I rechecked the first few tiles it was noticable how much they had moved,as I used rapid set i landed up with a slightly unflat floor.I used mappei, and there was not more than 5-7mm adhesive under any tile as I had already smoothed the floor.Any ideas as to the cause or how to prevent it,because I am confuzzed!!

unfortunately when you start bedding tiles up 5-7mm ,the tiles sit up on the adhesive and for all intents and purposes are really floating there, when another one is placed beside it the extra adhesive effects the bedding of the one beside it, it takes a lot of practice to get used to putting the right amount of adhesive on the tile when back buttering to achieve a solid bed and a flat floor ,sometimes you will even have to beat the tiles flat using a mallet or slide the tiles to squeeze the excess adhesive up and out through the joint to achieve the flatness you are looking for
