yeah the customer asked me tile around them but i managed to talk him out of it cos it would have looked crap as th mirrors taper on the edges so they would have been a lotlower than the tile
Hi matt, for a first job it is excellent. I can imagine how you felt when you finished. You get an enormous sense of pride when you complete, and are happy with your first job.
Nice work, hope you got paid well for it? Alot of guys are guilty of underpricing a job when they start out, purely because they don't factor in all the costs that they have to meet. I was the same.
Cheers Scott
Unfortunatly i didnt get paid as much as i wanted as with a lot of customers im sure ill meet this guy was on "a budget" so to get the job i did it for him cos i needed to start tiling only got £350 luckily i work through the day anyway so i could afford to lose money aint doing it again though it worked out at about £12-£13 m2 s**t i know.
looks good to me mate.I,m going on the course at PTS on monday and hopefully will become a self employed tiler at the end of it. Just wondering how your getting on with it now, nearly a year later? What should i expect to be paid per sq,m once i,m up to scratch with the tiling? How hard was it to get your business going?
Hi R6Robbo, I started on my own July 06 and didn't have a week day off upto xmas, found loads of work in my area. As a very rough guide, I charge about £400 to fix ceramic wall tiles in an average sized bathroom (8' x 7') and that takes me 3-5 days depending largely on the state of the walls, and about £150 for the floor which doesn't include plyboarding out and it will generally take me 1-2 days - includes all materials. I find the job can sometimes gets a bit tedious but still the best move I ever made. Job satisfaction is pretty damn high come completion and I love the freedom that comes with self employment.
Superb Job Matty - with the sanitaryware, why dont you whip it out and then tile? Saves a whole lot of heartache cutting around the pedestal and toilet etc.... Better finish too. And its not as difficult to remove/replace as what you may think 🙂
Cheers concept at the time i didnt think about taking out the sanitary ware cos i was nervous about the tiling as it was my first ever tiling job and now i take the sanitry everytime where pos.
Makes sense every time and the price you would normally charge the customer for the difficult cuts covers the cost of the removal/installation and takes no more than an hour to do.
Its amazing what flexi hoses and service valves can do for you...... 🙂
