my first quote

hi all, im pretty new to tiling i have done a course and a few of my own and friends tiling jobs with some good results however i have got my first quotation for a "real customer" tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any tips i could use to give me a better chance.

hi benj,aproach the quote with confidence,be confident and positive while chatting to the customer,offer ideas if they are open to them and try and use your personality to win them over also,customers like people they can connect with in some way good luck

Failing that, don't try to pull the wool over there eyes and don't take it on if its beond you. If you really struggle with the job it will knock your conferdance.

get all the info u need and work it all out porperly at home, dont b pushed into giving a price there and then because it might b too high or low wich could lose u the job

When quoting I always stress I will only use top class materials and point out the disasterous results if they buy/another tiler uses cheap stuff

you really shoudnt do it but i did when i started out get the wife to ring a couple of tilers in you area ask for price per mtr give you a good idea for the mitreage in your area its different all over the uk.And call into your local supplier get a trade price for all your materials print it out for future reference then you have it all just measure up and add your materials quotes done !

Hi Benji - check out swE's guides on this forum. He gives some excellent advice on things to consider when pricing up jobs.
