Hi, Your website has outgoing link's to other suppliers websites but do they offer the same in return? The more incoming looks you have the more Google like you!
Also list your site on as many free listing sites you can find, for example BT Tradespace, Thomsonlocal, Yell, Scoot, Freeindex, Hotfrog etc. My site lists high in google but the free index sites are there or there abouts

Hope this Helps

each image can have an alt tag describing it which is read by the bots these are spiders that google/yahoo send out to check websites before ranking them. The more relivant the better.

Home page : I am Jo i tile floors and walls. If you create a link from floors to a page with pics of floors then from there to types of floors you become an info source not just joe the tiler. Depth creates better content which makes the spiders smile.

Content is the meat and potatoes of it all the more you say the better but dont cram everything on one page and make it relivant eg, floors, walls, bathrooms, showers, wetrooms, wet rooms, level access, showers, adhesives.

Golden rule dont STUFF pages by repeating same key words over and over.

Thats your lot,

PS, your landing page is crap, the site is about you not everyone else, get a pic of a job you have done on there, reduce the size of those supplier images if you must use them and run them accross the bottom or move them to your links page. As it is you first see the logos then the tel numbers and lastly the text by which time you have had enough and move on. 5 seconds tops if you dont catch a punters interest by then they have gone..............

If you can strip all the microsoft code out of it, it will be better, office bloats your code.

use rel="nofollow" in the links not directly linked to your trade, you get better ranking on those that are similar trade to you.
Create a sitemap.xml file and put this in your root folder
Create a robot.txt file referencing your sitemap
Ensure different titles and description are on every page
Use <h1> <h2> etc for your main taglines
Get links from other quality sites, i.e. your adhesive company etc
Do not get involved in link farms etc they will hurt your rank
Do not auto submit using software
Have your website in your sig on forums (if the forum admins allow it)
Maybe look at a broader area Alnwick is a small place (my mom was born there :yikes:)
Add more content if you can i.e. a portfolio, information about the products etc, increases your page density.

It is worth getting someone to create the website for you to ensure it is fully SE compatible.

edit
search google for sitemap and robot

Having a closer look at the site I will now talk about content,

Phone number at the top big and plain.
Get rid of the news, becoming a certified supplier is like saying I am nearly qualified (sceptical approach)
Opening line should read somthing like
Alnwick ceramic is a proffesional bathroom installation and tiling.

This should be in a <h1></h1>

Alnwick ceramic is a proffesional bathroom installation and tiling company. With the extensive knowledge Alnwick ceramics are able to encapsulate breath taking design with practicality.

this should be in a <H2></h2>

Professional bathroom should be linked to details of your bathroom installation service and in <strong></strong> and similar with your tiling

Where possible speak in the third person as it gives you keyword density.

I would advise you look at several brochures and sites as they will give you an idea of how to layout your message.

when linking to other sites it maybe better to make a feature page of their product rather than a few lines, give the link creadability.

Google (the only search engine) now gives scores on quality of links out and in.

Get a good boffin to do it for you, if you pay £50 you get £50 worth of work for a site your size a fair price may be £350 plus extras, SEO (search engine optimisation) may be a monthly fee and is all dependent on search critera (example this site was helped by SEO but now it is capable of generating its own traffic due to the content alone [I have some forums similar covering completely different subjects]).

ask for examples and don't accept "dora's tea room" ranking number 1 in google you want to see good competetive keyword examples that actually mean something, i.e alnwick ceramics would be easy to get number 1 if the user typed in "alnwick ceramics" because you would just keyword stuff the site, however it would be negative for all other criteria,

look at site stats if available see how people are finding you and expand on it.

I agree it is rocket science for some, as some aspects of plumbing and tiling are for me, I know specialist areas in some fields but not others, but be assured there a good design companies out there and some bad don't go for pretty go for practical if you can get both all the better.

If you haven't got site stats you are on a looser, if you get 600 unique visiters that hit your homepage but 599 that leave on your homepage you know exactly where the problem lies if you get my drift.

Use google anylalitics if available or Awstats, most companies will offer a stats package, I personally use 4 different packages as they give different information dependent on the way the decrypt the information given.

Yeah, lets build a rocket!!! Seriously, I need a web page to link to a site who sells me, or so they say. So, do I, for an example, do it myself, of splash out a little and get a boff to do it as I have no idea.

I really want to get it higher in rankings when searching for Tiler in Alnwick.

Can someone guide me in the right way as I'm sure I've done everything I can !

Thanks.

Website address is Alnwick Ceramics - Home

What I'd do:-

  • Change your title tag from Alnwick Ceramics - Service with a smile to "Tiler in Alnwick"
  • Add "Tiler in Alnwick" to a couple of image Alt tags
  • Add text in the page about Alniwck and the local area's.
Checkout www.ridgewaytiling.co.uk and www.thewrighttiler.co.uk for a couple I've done that rank #1 for not just their area, but all area's near by.

You need more inbound links, and the link text needs to say "Tiler in Alnwick"

Google doesn't know what you want to rank for unless you tell 'it'. So tell it in a few places but don't go over the top.

You want "tiler in alnwick" as a H1 tag, and bold, and in your normal text just ONCE. And then generally say 'tiler' and 'alniwck' here and there within your website.
