Natural Stone onto Terrazo...

Hi I have just been to see a small job, its a porch area which already has an old terazzo covering, i say old as a few cracks have emerged here and there, but nothing to hinder stability of the surface.

The client has picked some large format natural stone tiles, some of which will lead out to the step outside.

1) Is naturals stone ok for frost resistance?
2) Is is okay to tile over terazzo (this surface seems quite smooth).
3) Is the combination of the two not a good Idea and should I persurade the customer to get porcelain instead?

Please help, i would be grateful.

it depends which stone and how it is fitted whether it will resist freeze and thaw damage it is okay to yile over the terrazzo but it will need to be clean and free of any old sealer or residues and i reccommend roughing the surface and priming with sbr bond ,i would be more concerned with anti slip so make sure you get a tile which is suitable

Yes, the anti slip part crossed my mind.

I guess it will be safer to say porcelain would last longer.

As your using natural stone would a decoupling membrane be an idea
