Note: If I had no work on, I'd be setting up a bed website. There's such a gap between the giant bed companies and the small firms, at least with their websites. I can't for the life of me find the bed I want working any of these websites. I know no brands - which is the way the big firms sell beds, and the small firms simply say to contact them, and don't rank well at all. Is this the same in your area when you search google for beds?
Now on to the real subject. I need a new bed. Any advice?
Sick of cheap beds that break easily. Wooden slats always snap. I think I have 4 missing out of this one which leads to an inevitable argument over who's actually stealing who's side of the bed when we're both rolling to the middle due to the dip. And the last bed was a cheap hollow tubed bed that broke pretty much in one go. As soon as one leg got weak in the middle of the bed (yes, the very middle, it had 9 legs! lol) the rest took strain and within a week we were pretty much sleeping at the height of a mattress.
I've had divan's before and like their draw thing they have going on, but they seem to weaken in the middle of both halves which creates a 'bar-like' feel in the middle of the bed right where you back is. And my back aint the best, like many of you. Though I'm wondering if you guys know of a good quality divan perhaps?
Thought of a nice old oak bed, that'd live longer than me, but the bedroom has built in white wardrobes. If I could dare to paint an oak bed white (sorry to any carpenters on here for that comment) then I'd be having the quality and the looks. But I can't even imagine painting good quality oak. Would that be acceptable, maybe?
Failing either of those options. What the hell is a good bed? I know what one is that doesn't last long. But what's one that's comfy and will last a lifetime?
And then the mattress, we have an average mattress now, we're hoping to have a bigger bed but need to check sizes etc. But either way we'll probably get shut of this mattress and get a really decent one to last.
Needs to be anti-bug-thing. And not NASA style (which as Jeremy Clarkson would say, was built for a specific purpose that only dozens of people will ever require so why the hell did they commercialise it?!?!?) memory foam. I hated all I've tried (that's tried not slept in!) however we have a memory foam thin layer thing on top of our mattress at the mo to try and counter-balance the tip. I like it a bit. But I'm sure an actual nice mattress would do much better.
Anyway, sorry to waffle, at a lost cause. If you can recommend anything at all that would help me please do.
Also, I prefer buying from small businesses, if you know of a craftsman that can make something give me a shout. But big firm brand names I don't mind, I'll just try to get the bed via a small firm somehow. Maybe even give 'em a chance of getting an account they don't have already with a recommended brand? Who knows.
