Hi guy's, got a job coming up with 4x4 quarry tiles.. Never done them before, so is there anything i need to be aware of? Do they need to be treated any differently to ceramic? The job is about 2.5m bathroom floor (upstairs, so on joists/floorboards etc). I haven't seen the tiles yet, so this is all the info i have.. Thought i'd better get the ball rolling, so i know what to look for, or what other info i need before starting..

Cheers
Scott

Anyone? :(

So far, I'm thinking of removing floorboards, adding noggins, then 18mm ply. Topped with either hardie backer, or ditra (haven't decided yet, as need to work out costings etc). Then weber rapid flex addy.

No idea if the quarry tiles themselves need any special treatment, such as sealing, or soaking etc etc!?!

In all honesty Dave, i'm sure of nothing. I can only tell you what the customer has told me!?! One minute the wife told me they were hand made tiles, and when i mentioned this to the husband, he said they're not hand made tiles, they're quarry tiles!?!?! I'll try and get some more info on them tomorrow, although on the verge of falling out with the builder, so may not be relevent after tomorrow lol! Cheers for the reply though mate ;)

Same as above, never seen 4x4 quarries but if they are 6 x6 ones then they will need sealing. If they are the thinner wicked ones then you can use your dry cutter most of the time. They orange / red ones look really good with cement grey grout. Also when washing off, i use a wash boy and clean wipe twice as they can be hard to do final dry clean if any residue remaining. Good luck

Not all quarries require sealing.... always check though :)
