Need your thoughts

Just been asked to do a tiling job, in Tiblisi, Georgia. Floors with ufh for starters. (probably a bit of general diy stuff as well, maybe Velux windows to fit) Will be given a local english speaker to source mats when out there, will have to give it some thought this week end
Still in shock at the thought of it, Fly (anybody flown with tools before)or drive with tools (5 days plus) ? been told to take a helper so watch this space if I go for it

Wow, just a bit beyond Turkey... just looked it up, oh, just go and have a new experience! Tools can be taken on board just like musical instruments and bikes, special luggage, no probs...

Can you really take tools onto a flight? Hammers, chisels saws etc, they are a bit more dangerous than lighters and baby milk that are both banned.

I would drive because that would be an experience on its own, a mini holiday if you like.

You lucky bugger! Id drive as well mate But maybe buy an old estate car too do it in Then sell it when i got back.

Youd save the money on flights. But then im Biased as i wont get on a plane:lol:

They are only banned in hand luggage, special luggage is different, it's best to ring the relevant airline, say what you want to take and ask how it needs to be wrapped and go from there. Have you seen how far it would be to drive? Would add heaps of time to the whole trip, and you'd probably be exhausted before you get there, anyhow, hammers and chisels should be available there... where there's a will - and decent money, there is a way to new adventures...

i took my tools to Ireland & Germany to work!! i bought a-kit bag from the army-surplus store then put them in as luggage, then took a small bag for hand luggage

go for it you need to inform the airline as there are rules. my tools to germany had to be secured in a wooden box that was screwed shut afler they checked its contents this end, not checked again on the journey. after the job same happened in reverse but by this time I was in holland and my tools were checked and the box secured at schipol and not checked again this end
