New shower instalation

Hello there. Im currently thinking about upgrading my bathroom. I want to fit a pre formed shower tray into the bathroom which will be tiled over and that will be screened on two sides and up against the walls on the other. My queery is that having looked at some post that have previously been put here i have noticed that other people have tanked out their entire bathrooms even though they have screened off the shower the same as i would like to do. Can somebody please tell me if it is necessary to tank the room or is just tiling the wall and floor with water proof adhesive and grout sufficient enough? Also is it necessary to use aqua panels instead of ordinary plaster board as part of the bathroom will be re boarded out to start with.

Many Thanks
Tony

Hi Gowolf and welcome. As you are re boarding I would advise to use cement backer boards in the shower/wet area
