just thought id let you know that lots of sigma retailers have now got stock of the new improved 'blue composite resin side support bars'
when i first saw them i thought aye aye, whats this, wheres the alloy ones gone, then when i got my 3c, i realised that they have improved them!!
they are longer than the original
very strong,
light
thick & very rigid
and with a real bonus is a new foot underneath to give extra support to arm for large format tiles!!
really impressed, they look right! and i have heard that there are other little subtle design features being added so sigma definately are pushing forward whereas other companies are cutting back......
i can see a reason for why they have gone the resin support arm because the new foot makes the arm very rigid as a support platform. if you dropped a large heavy tile or accidentally stood on the centre of an alloy arm with a support foot at the end, it could dent the middle of the arm, whereas this new composite resin is very very tough in compression and impact and wont dent or bend or deform in shape. apparently sigma dont make changes for changes sake. they only make improvements, typical italians..
heres some pics of the changes.................
longer support bar new support foot thick, rigid, strong
