Hello and welcome to tilers forums.......

What type of adhesive did you use...?...will get to the other questions in a min..

I used SPF adhesive applyed with a mosaic trowel and pressed it on with the back of the trowel.

I set it out right so I had decent cuts around the toilet sink walls etc. the cut around the toilet was a nightmare mind. The line at the door is a Jaunty angle but thats just the way of of the dor frame. the floor is straight I believe

Sorry I said I was doing a tile border I am doing tile skirting around the outside.

quite concerned about this brittle travertine, I use a genesis cutter will this be adequete for the job? I really sont want to put everything through the wet saw...

the conservatory is dead square huge tiles so less to lay I thought I could do the job in 3 days (and an evening for the sealing) so £200 is good. or mybe the real reason is that I have no balls to charge top coin yet...

is the travertine honed and filled?

affraid not. although i am aware of a decoupling membrane my knowledge aint to good. I thought I only needed one if the subfloor changes like concrete to wood for example. the longest length is 6m. please correct me if I am wrong, still learning!!
you are correct to use it between two different substrates but because travertine is brittle by nature then the decoupling will give extra strength in cases of movement(deflection) in the floor.I think you did mention that you were going to use a flexi adhesive...i think a two part flexi would be better. Also i would use the wet cutter for all cuts....hope this has been helpful to you.

I'd put trav through wetsaw unless you can hide the cuts under skirting (not forgetting perimeter expansion joint) it tends to cut like crumbly lancashire cheese sometimes. Silly price to charge tho' you should maybe try for an hourly rate 'til you build your speed and confidence up.

A genesis cutter wont cut stone and you will need a wet cutter with a bed that has a 600 cutting length to cut skirtin, they are big and when wet they are brittle.

I think the real reason is your chasing the buck supported by huge tiles so less to lay. You only have a vague or no comprehension of what you think you are doing. If you had the slightest idea then you would realise that on floors big tiles can be a tottaly different ball game to 30x30 bathroom floors

I tried earlier in this thread to try and discourage you from this, since reading further it appears from your comments you believe its an in and out job in which case its the money thats the incentive.

23m2 of 60x60 travertine will with a pan flat floor and if it arrives dry will take you 1.5 days to lay 19.5m of skirtin will take a day to cut and fix 1 day to dry, 1 day to grout, 1 / 2 days min to dry half day to seal.

In reallity you can double your estimate of time and forget making fast money, as many questions as you ask will not make a difference...........sorry.

Hang on a sec there mr wet dec. I am on here asking as many questions as I can so I can do the best job possible. Not to do a bodge job for a quick buck. I maybe new to tiling and maybe my timing estimates are a bit out as well as my pricing. but i`m going to be doing it anyway even if it takes all week. The floor will look perfect when I finish, as I wont be finished till its perfect. There maybe be tears, there maybe tantrums but it will be a learing curve right in at the deep end!

I really appreciate your feed back wetdec and advice as well as eveybody elses.
Thanks

Its a bloody expensive deep end

Everything I say is for a reason m8 at the end of the day as I said early on I dont want you to c)ck it up and then suffer for it. If your intentions are genuine your lucky and you can pull it off then full marks to you but if you have enough of stone and get a bad name because you cant produce for the customer then it would be a shame.

All the medals are gone its your name that counts in this job.
