Hi all,

Just in the process of going into tiling at the age of 43. Sick to death of being stuck in an office 9-5, its not good for your waistline sat at a desk for 8 hours a day, as my belt will tell you. My good friend has been running his own plumbing company for 30 years and he told me about how hard it was for him to find a tiler to do the jobs he got offered, (last week they had to turn down 5 bathrooms due to no tiler being available), so I enquired about a course, UK Pro Tiling, and I start it on 1st August, there really does seem to be a UK shortage of tillers, especially up around Hull. Obviously at the end of the course I don't expect to be able to do everything great at a fast pace but im hoping that i'll at least be able to do basic bathroom/kitchen tiling and with time i'll be able to make a decent fist of this. I'm looking forward to having a more active and manual job so hopefully will lose a few stone!!!

Once the course is finished i'll be going shopping for the equipment, with my mate obviously to take advantage of his trade accounts, so any advice would be greatly welcomed.

Hi Steve,
I was in the same position as you and needed a change. I did the UK Pro Tiling Course and can't speak highly enough of it. Still getting my act together - done some long overdue home jobs as practice, plus a few neighbour's. Good luck to you - this is a great forum for info with some genuinely helpful people.
