hi all,
thought i would introduce myself .... my names Mark, i'm from west norfolk uk and have been a tiler for around 20 years, i hope i can help people with their problems and also learn a thing or two ( your never to old the learn new tricks :yes: )

alright fred thanks... can you give me any advice on how to start up by my self... i am doin a tiling courses next week.. i know how to tile just want to do it properly.. so any advie... who to call, where to go what to do. thanks

look up the tax on-line web page, its all on there how to start a buiness. I recall you need to contact business house, they are only to happy to help you with your new fenture. It takes days mate. You then get your new tax code, etc. Better to be safe than sorry, IMO. Also, your local tax office are only to willing to get you up and started with working cards, they explain it all.

Anybody can advertise what they like, where they like. It is only when you start generating income that you start to become self employed.

The tax man is not going to chase you through the courts for wasting your own money advertising if you aren't generating any income. If, on the other hand, you ARE generating income and have not declared it then you are breaking the law. You are obliged to register as self employed with in 3 months of your "start date" otherwise fines can ensue.

HM Revenue & Customs: Home Page will take you to the HMRC home page. There are links on there to take you to the Self Employed part of the site where there is loads of info, as well as links to register on line now I believe.
