I shall be training really hard this year, last year I ruptured my ACL and am recovering well, but aiming to be fully fit by the end of the year. Fully fit to me is running the Dorset Coastal Path Marathon. I won't be doing it again, it took me 7 hours and was the worst thing I have ever done, but just being able to run for a good 3 hours will be a bonus.
(I'll be not drinking in January, and trying to drop my Christmas Gut for the first few months)
I'd also like to be able to manage muscle-ups and a human flag.......been trying on and off for years.....time to nail it!
Oh - and finally finish off the flat.....and relax!

My resolution is the same as it is every year, try and get through the 12 months without doing a kitchen splashie.

Mines not to do anymore metros...
That will last about a week. .:(

Bet u can't guess what I'm starting my year off with! :D
Well it's 150x75 flat tiles (flat, yes! Punches air!)
Along with two small geo floors in same house! Yaaaaaawn! Haha

Yeah, I nearly got there a while ago, it is pretty intense, the hardest thing is to find somewhere to practise where the world can't see you, cos when you fail its pretty embarrassing.
Yep, all in core....and arms. Fingers crossed!

I didn't make a new years resolution. Missus made it for me. :(

Got on the scales at a friends house New years eve. 17s'8. She wants me to get down to 16 by next year.

Gotta strengthen my back up after suffering a setback this year.... MRI on friday to find out whats up. So her aim is for me to fix my back, get to the gym, and lose 1 n'alf stone in a year. Don't think she'll manage it to be honest, but will give it a good go.

Should be fun :) (will it heck! :( )

That's not even half a pound a week, u can do that easily by reducing ur current daily intake by 200 calories a day!
3000 calories reduction equates to a pound in weight,
Therefore 1500 calories is half a pound
However, 2000 calories burnt thro exercise also equals a pound lost, it's far more efficient than reducing calories.
Obviously those figures are very general and not specific in any way, but on average that's what it equates to.
That's based on ur current daily intake if u are maintaining a steady weight without actually gaining.
If ur actually gaining steadily then 200 calorie reduction isn't enough, it would have to be more!
Someone in ur kind of work would normally expect around 2200-2300 calories a day to maitain a steady weight!
But again that's average. Government recommended figures are too high imo, u've only got to look down the street to see that in the main the average person today is overweight or close to it!
But that's just my opinion
Ahhhhh that's better! :)

thanks 3_fall...... I shall take your advise.......

And EAT IT! :hamburger:

TBH I've gradually put on weight since my job became less manual. My back issue has stopped me taking the dog for long walks too. Used to go for a 8 mile hike every sunday. Thats stopped. lucky to get him round the estate every day at the moment.

Been a miserable year health wise but 2016 is the year I spin it back round on its arse!

Bit of determination goes a long way! Very best of luck!
One of the easiest ways to reduce ur intake without noticing is to buy urself a smaller dinner plate!
Obviously portions will have to become smaller cos there's less room on plate, as long as visually it looks like ur normal size dinner!
Increase the protein and veg portion sizes slightly and compensate by reducing carb portions. Believe me it works!
Add to that actually putting ur knife and fork down between mouthfuls and actually chewing ur food a minimum of a dozen times, will also allow ur brain enough time to register when ur full!
And u won't get that over eaten stomach ache 10 mins after ur meal!
Don't sound familiar does it? Haha
If u try that approach tonight with ur evening meal, my bet is u won't finish it, if u listen to ur brain and not eat with ur eyes like most of us do! :D

U too Julian! Haha

Ok, but if I up the protein, cut the crap and the portion size, and go to the gym, that will build up muscle won't it.?I'll still be 17s won't I, just replacing fat with muscle? Replacing the keg with a pack of six or whatever you wanna call it.

Sorry if I sound thick, but I ain't no gym bunny, I felt faint just entering one to sign up. Healthy eating and regular exercise hasn't intentionally been part of my life routine until now and that only because i've been told too!

Haha not that simple I'm afraid @Paul C.
U just said u want to loose weight.
I've given u simple ways to do just that.
Don't over analise what I've said about portion sizes etc.
I'm talking small amounts.
To actually increase muscle density and weight u'd have to consume 2.5gm of protein per kilo of body weight per day. And I'm not talking 2.5gms in weight! Haha I'm talking nutritional values.
So someone weighing 70kg would need to consume 175gms protein a day, to give u an idea, in 100gms weight of tuna there is 27gms protein, so that's 700gms of tuna to aquire that much protein A DAY :)
Last thing u need to be doing is pushing weights at the moment.
If ur gonna exercise do light cardio to start. The best all round cardio is the rowing machine. It exercises every muscle in ur body, esp the heart and lungs.
ANY cardio u do to help loose weight should only be at a maximum of 75% heart rate for u!
The way to work ur maximum heart rate out is to deduct ur age from 220
That'll give u ur max heart rate.
So cardio for weight loss is 75% of that!
If u work any harder ur body will not use body fat as fuel, it'll use stored energy u've amounted during day and not body fat, which after all, is what u need it to use!
This is waaaaaay off topic haha it needs a new thread if u want to continue :)
