Hello and welcome to the forums,

Get some leaflets made up and plenty of footwork, ring local plumbers, builders, kitchen/bathroom companies etc...

Monty

cheers, ive E-mailed most the kitchen places in my area. Whats the best thing to say when calling plumbers etc as surely they will want something in return for passing on my details and getting me work?

Hello,

When I finished my tiling course I put together a small action plan on how to put my name out on the circuit. I approached all of the plumbers and double glazing manufacturers ( conservatories ) by letter enclosing a business card with a little introduction on how I could complement their business. This was a little time consuming but when I wasn`t working I was trying to develop contacts within the industry. I sent out nearly 120 letters from which I made only 4 contacts, this was all I needed as I gained very reliable contacts and a steady stream of work through consistent recommendation to other tradesmen.

I sent out nearly 120 letters from which I made only 4 contacts, .

Hubby is a bit of a marketing statistics buff and keeps telling me the figures (luckily he has other compensating qualities:lol:) - in direct marketing 2-3% positive response is what is expected, nothing else, that is what the big marketing boys work with. Anything above that is a bonus and often due to very good timing and/or copy writing, so you did well there EXRM.

So when you are sending out 60 letters and get only one or two positives out of it don't be disheartened, the numbers game is a fact of modern economics. Just so you know Stu....and good luck:thumbsup:
