Newbie needing some advice please

Hi to all, newbie to site, I'm a DIYer looking for some tiling advice please. I've tiled previously directly onto plaster/plasterboard, but my next project is stud bathroom walls which have previously been skimmed & painted. I'll be getting all the paint off, but suspect the walls may have been PVA'd as well. Can I tile onto this (not an area that will be getting wet), or do I need to prep the walls with something else first?

Hi Dave, tiles are porcelain, 600x300x10mm.

They might just be a bit heavy for skimmed walls..

Either way you will need a cement based adhesive suitable for porcelain tiles and the walls will need an acrylic primer to stop reaction between the adhesive and substrate.

Thanks, any recommendations for which primer?
The weight issue concerned me also, but have checked them, they're approx 24kg/m2; is this within limits?

about 20kg for skimmed plaster but you still have to add the adhesive weight about 3-4kg m2
