Hi all,
I've been reading through this forum but can't seem to find a specific answer so thought I'd go ahead and join up and ask! Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction.
I'm in the process of re-fitting my bathroom and have removed the tiles around where the shower will be going in. The tiles where straight onto plasterboard so they've pulled a lot of the backing paper off and left adhesive in places too. Ideally I would like to replace the plasterboard, however it's that honeycomb stuff so i'm not entirely sure that's possible without damaging the board at the other side. I'd like to use the tile backer boards but i'm not sure how to fix them and also worried about the weight with the extra boards and tiles if I did fix/dot and dab. Anybody have any advice please?
Not sure if it's worth leaving the board up and putting a waterproof membrane on as a way around this problem? If I went for this option how easy is it to get this flat enough to then fix the tiles too?
On a side note i've seen different opinions on tiling onto floorboards and using 9mm or 12mm ply, or possibly using backer board for that also. Any opinions on which is best?
Quite a few questions I know but I want to get it right first time rather then have to re-tile in 12 months!!
Thanks in advance.
Simon
