no more nails to polished porcelean floor tiles

hi all new user,very informative site,but can anyone answer mwe this?Is it practical or does it even work using no more nails or similar product to fix toilet pan to polished porcelean tiles.

i have heard of people siliconing the pan back down but i would always screw back into place

These adhesive with not bond long term in the damp,wet conditions that the pan base will be under and especially on polished porcelean tiles,you will have to invest in a good drill bit for the job and fix correctly

In the past I have installed "back to the wall" pans with just Silicon. One that springs to mind was a bathroom that was tiled with a riven grade 5 porcelain. It took over 20 mins to drill holes in them and I really didn't fancy drilling and screwing the pan down, so I sealed / stuck the pan with Silicon. Admittedly, I went around the base, sides and the top with Silicon but it doesn't move .

It's been 2 years with daily use and I was back there doing another job in Jan and could not see any issues.

If this is the OP's own residence then it could be another option?

All old toilets used to be just stuck down over a lump of sand/cement and had no other mechanical fixings. Silicon stops them moving when you have screwed them down and eliminates 'the rock'

ive replaced close coupled cisterns where the china has cracked due to being siliconed to the wall/ the cistern fixings supplied allow a small amont of play to avoid stresses, same with the fixings to the floor

not a good practice and can cause serious damage if no ones at home when the cistern cracks

The cistern fixings to the pan allow movement but not when the cistern is screwed to the wall
