Discuss Non-slip coating or treatment in the UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Hi all,

I have just tiled 3 steps outside a church with a textured tile (They were Qrock tiles from Topps Tiles) with a 10mm chromed metal edge tile trim.

The minister has just got back in touch saying a couple of people have slipped on them and could I suggest anything to improve them as they don't want anyone falling down the steps (Clearly not a helpful thing to happen!)

I have had a look online for a clear 'anti-Slip' coating or treatment, but most of them that come up are from the 'US of A' and postage would be prohibitive.

Has anyone used a treatment of this kind - Was it any good - Where did you get it from etc. etc.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Stephen

you really need to be thinking more of a selfadhesive anti slip tape placed along the edge of the step tread, I dont think q-rocks have the slip resistance rating needed for this type of installation which may leave you and your minister in the firing line for some major compensation claims, contact Topps tiles hq and ask then what is the slip rating for q-rocks ,the current adopted slip resistance test is the german ramp test Din 51130 and Din 51097 which recommends the tiles for an entrance way or for steps should be r11 or r10 please find the helpful link which explains it very well broken link removed
