Andy,
I was on the NETT course in November 2007.
The way I understand it NVQ's have to be assessed on site marking your work on a real job. So there are no courses that can supply an NVQ unless on job training is carried out.
With NETT you get an attendance certificate in the price of the course, and for The ASET Level 2 certificate (classroom grade that is equivelent to NVQ 2 ) there is an extra charge of £50. I believe this is charged by ASET as an admin fee. Small price to pay to get the contract above your competitor.
I have posted, albeit a bit long winded, a recommendation in the Courses Feedback Forum - North East Tiling Course - Page 15
Good Luck on the course

p.s. You will find the course and Darren and Tracey Brill!!!

Hi Andy,

You cannot get a course that is equivalent to an NVQ2 purely from classroom work, as an NVQ is purely work based. What people are trying to say is that the course content is pitched at a level 2 difficulty. In laymans terms, it's difficulty is equivalent to a grade A-C GCSE course, if there was such a thing for tiling!! :)

However, even though it is a level 2 difficulty course, the CITB only recognise City & Guilds Construction Awards for IMMEDIATE enrolement onto an NVQ programme. As unfair as it may seem, this is the case unfortunately. So even though your course was pitched at Level 2, you will still have to wait 3 years before you can enrol onto an NVQ programme.

None the less, you will still apparantly learn plenty and of course, the feedback from others says it all on here about what NETT does. So if its for you, then go for it both barrels mate :)

Good Luck!
