Off to the doctors today

Just finished a job, that I used 35kg kerapoxy grout. I was careful, and wore rubber gloves, read the saftey sheet, and if I got any on my uncovered parts, I washed it off straight away. Well yesterday I started to ictch a bit here and there, and this morning I have a swollen eye, rash all up my fore arms, and on my knees and neck.

So I'm off to the docs this morning, but just a warning, when you use this sort of product, cover up as much as possible, even when washing the floor down try to keep yourself out of contact with this stuff.

Yeah, I dont think its much to worry about, and my missis went out the door giggling this morning. But it does bloody itch.

it sounds like you are allergic to epoxy's keep away from them in case you get a serious reaction phil, would be my advice..............

Been to the doc's, appartently its erythema, quite a bad dose of it too. Been told to take Peritin, and it should be ok, in about a week. But if my lips or tounge start to swell up, or any difficulty breathing, then I have to go straight to A&E, as it might be the start of something I cant even pronouce, let alone spell, but it could be fatal.

So my first experience with epoxy grout, is my last

Phil, when im out the miss's always keeps hayfever (Antihistamine) tablets with her as my big mate is bad with Anaphylactic shock.

We have had to save him a few times as some things he eats he gets an allergic reaction to & his airways swell up.

Antihistamines are the quickest way to reduce it.

Keep telling him to carry the pills with him but he never does.

I did 20 years ago after using Bal 2 part epoxy and it took 2hours sitting in a cold bath to stop the irritation. Mind you the wife was extremely happy at the increased size!!!!!!!!!
Barrier cream is the way forward with this material.

Well actually..... I must have. Not feeling ill with it, just itchy, got to go back an see the nurse in the morning.

She actually had a giggle to herself, and then she said, oh your the guy I spoke to the other week with the poorly eye, you dont have much luck do you.

i worked on a pool job once and one of the guys there was alergic to expoxy, we end up having to rush him to a&e he swelled up like a ballon, eyes bulging out, face swollen, not a pretty sight..

I tend to get allergic reactions to diffrent grouts etc even the wife changin the soap powder does it sometimes i find having a warm shower using t-gel shampoo all over and taking a piriton tablet does the trick.

And if all else fails copious amounts of beer.

Hope you get better soon mate. I take piriton daily as I seem to randomly get hayfever these days since I had that damn polyp a couple of years ago. Never had hayfever in my life but seem to come out in a bit of a rash on my arms like I've scrubbed them with nettles and I can be in tears and sneeze randomly. Not sure why but it doesn't always do it. But just for the hell of it I take the tablets daily because when I do get it it's a pain in the arse I can't even drive my eyes water so much sometimes.

I'm sure you'll be sound now you're not touching it again though.

It was a lot worse this morning eye completly closed,and weeping, half my face was swelling. So it was another trip to the docs, and he gave my a load of Steroids, and some eye drops, they seem to be working already, thankfully. So I think its back to work in the morning
