Hi Guys

Need some advice please
been asked to re-tile a couple of bathroom floors in an 8 year old property.
No problem until we started taking up the tiles to reveal Schluter Ditra matting underneath. This has been stuck down to T&G chipboard with either Ardex AF200 or contact adhesive rendering it impossible to pull up.
Any advice then on how best to clean up the matting ready for re-tiling. Some of the old adhesive has come up with the tiles but a lot has remained on the matting and in the dovetails. Not easy to scrape off as you'll imagine.
Thinking of just getting as much old ahesive off as possible and laying a thicker bed of new flexi adhesive to take up lumps and bumps. Not going to make the job easy tho as we all like to tile off a nice flat surface.
Any other suggestions then?????
thanks

Not a situation I've come across but would rather try to get down the chipboard and put new matting down. More chance of a flat surface but a lot of hard work I'd imagine.

The fleece on the ditra that we have here (made in Canada) will pull away from the plastic layer quite easily.:icon9:

If its as impossible to pull up as you describe then its doing its job!
Get Mapei fibreplan and level out over the old adhesive.
You will have to ensure that all the loose material is removed and the surface is clean, dry and well fixed.

Have fun.

Thanks for the advice. I will try again to pull it away from the fleece backing as that makes sense. Might call Schluter and ask if that's possible when stuck with contact adhesive. or else level it out with some flexi adhesive first.
surprised not more of you out there come across this situation. keep you posted. Thx
