I'd like to know how the guys who've been in the game for 20odd+year feel the trade has changed with regards to the trade as a whole, is life easier now, how has it changed for you over the years.
And the lads/lasses who have been in the game for 5ish years or so, is it what you expected, did you expect more, or have you got more from it than expected.

Just out of interest I'm not writing a history report or nout:shades_smile:

I think the trade has got better..especially when it comes to adhesives and grouts...making the tiling process quicker and also better qaulity...
Tile trends have changed alot ..from the usual 6 by 6 or 4 by 4 and even the more popular 8 by 6.. to the mosaics we have now and the large format tiles ..and best of all the dreaded porcelain tiles.......dave...

As an old school boy..must say that..the present crop of adhesives and grouts..and general products make life far easier. Also with UFH,natural stone and the need for wet rooms..life is very interesting.....Gaz

I was at an old guys house a few weeks ago to do a quote. The tiles that were on had been there 20 years. He told me how he had put them on with a hand scribe, pencil to snap them on and a little hand saw. I was most impressed with his work with caveman tools and they were all still doinking solid when I gave them a test. I wonder sometimes if all this gear I've got is realy what its all about. Older people look in amazement when you turn up and say 'I'll just get my tools then' and I'm in and out 10 times to get it all, lol. Must think 'well he's just doing the tiling yes?'
