hi just new to tiling only being tiling about 6 months now , could someone please tell me if i can tile on top of tiles with normal adhesive or do i need a special adhesive , the wall the first tiles are on is a solid brick wall and the tiles are 100 mm x 100 mm x 7 mm and the new ones are going to be bigger CHEERS in advance Neil

best to rip them off and start again..

it's not a good idea to tile on tile as you don't know how well the other tiles are stuck, you could well be going over the weight limit too and the tiles could fall off.

I'd advise your customer that it's best to remove the existing tiles first....

I would use cementious addy.no no no ready mixed.

agree with radim
powered addy all the way and dont follow the existing grout joints.
make sure tiles are spotless aswell,be best to use sugarsoap aswell to get any grease or oils off, is it bathroom(shower) or elsewhere. body fats will be on the tiles in a shower area and will need a very good clean and prime,any sounding hollow or loose will need taking off and the void filled.
can be more work tiling over tiles and depending on who does the cleaning etc more cost.
