ooo the "tiling specialist" is going to call me

Started a job yesterday on an en suite (rather large 42sqm). Using a 60 x 30 beige porcelain for walls and floors with UFH going in. Anyway started tiling away yesterday, come to the third tile and there is about a 3mm difference in both height and width. Was sure every box was the same batch so i check them again that i havnt misread, nope all the same. Put a few more on, it was getting worse, one tile above the other with spacers either end and the middle of the tiles touched together the edges are that curved. Called the customer so she could see for herself, 6 tiles used and no way was putting more on the walls.
She called the place she bought the tiles from who then said they have never had this problem before, they will call her back. Called back and told her they think they know what is wrong, the tiler is using the wrong sized spacers, mmmmm Sure if i was using a 200mm spacer it wouldnt stop an object being a different size from another.
She has told them she is not happy and wants the tiles to be taken back with a refund, they are speaking to head office if that can be sorted. Meanwhile this morning, they have a tiling "specialist" who is going to call me and offer me advice on how this type of tile should be fitted, should be fun
Not a hand made product etc etc just a bog standard 60 x 30 that should be straight and of the same size.

Been having similar problems myself mate, tiles 1-2mm different but the biggest problem was how out of square they were. There is a lot of poor quality stuff about at the moment

I've had this before and been told by the retailer (and I'm sure someone on here will know if this is correct)
that the British Standard allows a tolerance of +/- 2mm in a box of tiles, with that tolerance rising on larger tiles !!!!!

Well he phoned me, told me it was impossible for tiles in the same box to be a different size. Went on to explain how tiles are laser cut and put straight into boxes. Had to stop him in his tracks before he rolled out more rubbish. He honestly then asked me to lay the tiles on a floor and try putting in a larger spacer as this should solve the problem, put the phone down on him. Customer is having them all taken back, tried to say she couldnt do that but quickly backtracked when she explained her husband was a solicitor and would look into it.

I've got a laser on my dewalt, makes tiling with stone a doddle :lol::lol: I have special gloves so I don't cut my fingers off and no water is needed :lol:

Been using 60x30 ceramics the last few days with similar problems. Same batch but 2mm difference and some out of square. All you can do is split the difference and hope it looks better grouted.

Customer phoned me today, the company have checked the whole stock that they have stored, suprise suprise they have had to admit that things are not quite right. Woman is really really not happy, she has actually demanded a letter of apology is written to myself about the way i was spoken to, haha, may frame it.
Full lot is going back and she is buying from elsewhere.

Mine didn't look too bad today because they were a cream tile with jasmine grout, heaven forbid if it was a contrasting tile and grout. Worst case of sizing and squareness on 60x30 I've seen in a while. Spanish tile made by something like Keramic or Ceramiker.

I had some of the black marble 305 x 305mm from Topps, the box was marked 10mm thick but some were 8mm thick. Strangely enough the website doesn't give the tile thickness.
