Would love to offer advice ed but mosaics are really not my thing... Maybe one day!! I remember when chatting to you though,you where very curious about how the mosaic curves where formed and you chatted to dpm about it! I have seen some outstanding mosaic work but its a very specialised area that i don't really appreciate i suppose. Suppose its the area of tiling that's like art eh! If i wanted to move in to a more specialised area of tiling it would be geometric work.

I agree with Missy T, with ancient mosaics it was one of the 'Rules' that you would use a keystone cut on a curve once the gap opened up too far. Using a triangle cut was a definate no-no as it would break the flow of the line. The exception was with very tight curves, i.e. going around one tesserae, in which case you'd use triangles.

Saying that it's a whole lot more difficult with the very regular square cut tesserae you have to work with. It's very unforgiving and I admire anyone who can work with them.
