One thing we can't control is the customers budget

but we can control calculated risks that would damage our reputations and lose you more work in the long term,i would rather go overkill in prep than cut corners,have to go back to the job costing me money/time and loosing potential future customers

Some people sugest butting the ply up against one another.

I have followed other advice and left 10mm gaps as i'm fitting UFH so wanted to be safe with temp changes. Now looking at the fitted boards 10mm looks like a big gap :yikes:

10mm is far too big a gap, who told you that? They probably meant around the perimeter of the room.

For overboarding small floors such as bathrooms I'd usually opt for 12mm screwed every 6 inches providing the floorboards are well fixed. I feel that 18mm can be a bit overkill for a 3m floor.

@ david campbell ...........Yes I agree with that outlook. I didn't mean I cut corners to suit customers budget, but there are some options you can use without compromising the/any job. It also looks bad if you keep getting a call back

All pulled up and repositioned with gaps of 2-4mm and one 20cm run with 6mm due to the "out of square" walls. Looks much more like it than when i had 10mm gaps!
