painted walls ?

am i right in thinking on a painted wall a bit of good old fashioned scraping is the only option to prepare for tiling or is it acceptable to use some sort of paint stripper to make the job a bit easier ? whats peoples views please ?

Wallpaper steamer usually does the trick.

Don't leave the steamer on the plastered wall to long otherwise you could blow the finish.....

[High Peak Tiling]

Tiling onto a painted surface: 80/90% of paint to be removed, any finishing cote plaster to be sanded and key'd.
Depending on the materials/gear you use..? Weber pr370 or ad250 for priming/ higher bond.
