A job this week turned into panic for the client who had ordered slate in Opus Romano pattern. When it was evident that the slate supplied was not calibrated or IMO fit for purpose the client panicked as the Kitchen is being fitted on Wednesday. So on Thursday afternoon I was ringing round suppliers to source an alternative. No one had a suitable slate available at short notice so I suggested going to our local supplier and seeing if they had samples of suitable tiles that were either available or could be obtained double quick !

The client had set 2 requests that the tile was to be either black or dark grey and he wanted a pattern as he doesnt want straight lines.

I sourced a Slate lookalike 600x300 but other than basic patterns ie half bond , herring bone etc I didnt hold much hope.
I also obtained another similar but with a more glazed finish, they were available from stock.
Lastly a tile called Egeo Santorini which formed a modified Hopscotch pattern or as they called it...Egeo pattern.
On getting back to the client, the woman of the house was in no doubt that she wanted the Egeo Santorini . She actually preferred these to the slate anyway.
Tiles were ordered at 4.30pm on Thursday and arrived about 2pm Friday. We managed to get a start on Friday afternoon, a fair amount of tiles were laid and the client could see the tiles on their floor and were most happy. This morning we arrived bright and early to finish off, the tiles were a delight to use and everything was working in our favour. Adhesive was setting nice and it was working nice for cuts. A slight panic for us towards the end as the tiles were getting fewer but it got done in the end.
A few hours later we were grouting with Mapei 113 .
This is the result....not what they initially wanted but clients most happy with the change and grateful of our help in all this.

Cracking looking floor there Neale and a true pro getting the customer sorted....... As for tiles getting fewer and fewer towards the end, isn't that what's ment to happen....(;0)

Not when there is a pattern and you are thinking that there wont be enough !! As it was we had a few more of one tile which could be used as a cut so all is well .
