Rizzle from the Portizzle

with paper faced mosiacs the trick is to grout them from the back before you fix them to the wall this stops the adhesive from comming through the joints and let the water start soaking out now after a bout half hour grout from the front to fill the open joints between sheets to hold them in place leave about 10 mins then start to wash off with warm water go up and down a few time with warm water after a few goes leave for a few mins then wash over with warm water again the paper will start to just peel off from the face pull this off and wash and clean as you go now you need a 400mm plastring trowel you need to stand back and look at the joints any that are out of line put the straight edge of the troule in the joints and tap them over until they are straight now wash over again with a semie dry spong when you are happy they are straight regrout again from the front the wash off as normal you have now finnished only needs a polish off next day

When using Ray's method you need a single powder based adhesive and grout such as N&C specialist mosaic adhesive:-

It's just not possible to pre grout with a traditional grout and use a traditional adhesive to stick.

If you read the PDF spec sheet I've linked to it even explains Ray's method for paper faced mosaics.
