Pet insurance

I was having a really good day, looked at 5 nice jobs for a builder this morning, anyway about 9am wife phones me and says that the dog isn't very well, so off to the vets, turns out she had to have an emergency operation to be spayed the dog ths is not the wife (some womens bits removed). I have just phoned the vets and its all done and i can collect her and the bill is £900..Not a problem as i have pet insurance, so got on the old blower to them and guess what...THEY DONT COVER THIS OPERATION :furious3: now having a bad day!!!!!!!

I have 2 westies insured with Petplan and they cover everything i think

insurance only covers emergency operations (not spading or health injections)
i'm glad i had my rotties covered from birth as my dog has had over £5000.00 spent on vet fees in just over 2 yrs!:mad2:

Did you tell the insurance people that the spey-ing was as a result of an illness, NOT a voluntary thing to stop the dog reproducing! Maybe they did not understand the relevance?

Yes i explained it was due to illness not choice..but they said my policy dosent cover this operation..

Will they cover the other parts of the treatment but exclude the operation cost and pay that way?

That sucks mate. I had similar thing happen when my cat got hit by a car a couple of years ago. He broke his right femur in a pretty bad way. Insurance co. managed to weasle out of paying due to some small clause in the fine print, so I had to pay in excess of £2000 for the operation, meds, aftercare, and the follow ups :furious3:

Really love that cat though. He made a full recovery, and though his right leg is a little stiff, he still manages to keep the local bird populaton in check, hehe.

No grumpy, i tried everything but because the main operation, was to spa-ye her they wont pay...Think might cancel the insurance now.

Well collected my boxer from the vets, and i made a bit of a fuss about the price, anyway in the end i had to pay £750.00..Still alot of money but feel better having £150.00 in my pocket

get a cat, they're cheaper!

If I ever bought a dog I'd get a cheap one, then if anything goes wrong, like a old banger car, scrap it and get another
