Plasplug Contractor plus wet saw vs bridge saw

Hi,

I have the plasplug contractor plus wet saw, and used it quite a bit, however now i have to cut a lot of 60cm porcelein floortiles

I have done some before on this one, and found you have to push very hard to get these big tiles through it


If I look at arround the Gbp 200 mark what are reasonable bridge/radial saws, or should I stick with the plasplug one

if you can afford a bridge saw go for it

topps have got one at around that price

ive been looking as my plasplugs is on its last legs and as you say porcelain is a bit of a struggle with it

Is any of the bridge saws an improvement, and in that price bracket, which one are more recommendable

the only one ive seen at that price is the topps one all the others are above that

the only downside to a bridge saw is the size and weight, otherwise they are a lot better than the plasplug

I'd recommend the QEP bridgesaw from tops for that price range.
Standard blade isn't bad but if you are doing a lot of large format porc then get the 'ultimate' blade for it. Topps won't have a clue what you are on about but if you ring QEP they will give you the ref code and Topps can get you one in. About £50 if I remember rightly.

Likewise, the QEP bridge saw is a pretty good cutter for its price. The only down side is the weight and the time you have to take to set the beast up. Genesis also do the same QEP saw but with Genisis stamped on it, might be worth having a look to see which is cheaper.

I got the pro 900 bridge saw from topps and as everyone says it's a bit on the heavy side, that said, it does cut up to 610mm.
I did notice that I got the best cut from the right side of the blade as you pull it towards you, with slight chipping on the off cut on the left hand side.
I did change the blade to Marcrist and this helped a bit, not too sure if it's me or the tile cutter.
The saw comes with a 22.2mm arber so if you want to fit a Marcrist you will need a 30mm to 22.2mm reducing shime, not sure where I got mine but Sir Ramic helped me with that problem.

I dont think it is you Rich, I noticed that it chips along the left hand side and now you mention it, mine was 3mm out of square when I got it!
