plasterboard choice????

i am a very keen DIYer and i am currently gutting a complete house and slowly putting it all back together. i have used standard 12.5mm plasterboard everywhere else and have now come to do the bathroom. the plan is the have all the walls tiled to the celing all round.

My question is.... if I use for instance BAL SBR product on all of the plasterboard before i tile, is there any need to use MR board when the SBR has water resistant propertites?

(of course i will be using a tanking product for the shower area)

if anyone would like to give me any further pointers please to not hesitate to tell me.

you'll be fine with standard board, as long as you tank the wet areas. Have you thought about using a hardibacker type board for the wet areas tho?

If starting from scratch in a bathroom I'd probably go for the hardibacker type, still tank the wet areas though

agree hardibacker and tank wet areas if you have a timber floor wouldnt hurt to waterproof:8:

as above, but i like cement-boards like marmox, wedi and so-forth for there thermal insulation!!!
