Hi guys,
Ive been asked to quote to fix plastic wall boards around a bath area,i have seen these before in showers but not round the bath.
Has any one got any experience with these as in how to fix them to the wall and cutting techniques.

All replies most welcome.cheers BH.

I can't remember the name of them?, but these boards are ply based with a melamine facing that is waterproof, as long as you use the right jointing pieces and plenty of silicon.

They cut with a normal wood saw, and are bonded onto the walls with a waterproof gripfil.

Some are quite nice, but are doing us out of a bit of tiling here and there.

Cheers CJ ,what are the jointing pieces for exactly, and wouldn't you need a solid bed behind them?

Oh and quoting for the tiling aswel so hopefully they will see sense:lol:

as above gripfill or can be screwed in at the joins i pesonaly hate the look of them very cheap compared to tiling but easy to fit!

You can also just get the plastic panels ,these are simply fastened through the tongue and groove onto battens whilst siliconing the joint to seal it.....

loads of different types about...another gimmick really i think, just like laminat was when it first came out...

You can't beat a nice tiled wall or floor...much harder wearing...

as been said their r a few types of these out there diff.thickness from 9mm up to about 20mm i think ..best method i hav found for fitting is to stud wall then plasterboard..then fix with pinkgrip u get a glue with them for the joints as well as joining stips from plastic to alluimium as well as coves...cut back off boards with a jiggy bore cut to size for shower..pain in the a**e to do mate more for the joiners out there imo...

The bathroom shop that i do work for does them they are called aquaboard and as quoted are more of a joiners job.1 warning i have heard is that they scratch really easy and you cant rub it out so basically ruins them

Thanks for all your replies guys.Ive decided not to offer my services on this particular occasion due to "botteling it".it just don't seem to be worth the hassle, thanks again to all of you.
