Kitchen floor. Concrete base in a "new build"

40x40cm Vivies Porcelain tiles going down.

1. Please advise on adhesive.

2. For cutting I intend to use the Wickes wet cutter that is on special offer. Will this be up to the job?
Wickes  – Tools, Ladders & Storage – Power Tools – Sawing and Carpentry Tools – 450W Tile Cutting Saw

3. Would a 10mm trowel be the correct size for a 40x40 floor tile?

4. I'm in the Swindon/Chippenham area so a good supplier in that area would be nice to know about.

My first post so don't be hard on me and thanks in advance

hello mate.
The adhesive depends on what the floor is? if its wood you will need a flexible adhesive, if concrete or screed and ordinary single part adhesive.
Look for a Topps tiles, as they are everywhere locally, and i would recomend either Bal "Goldstar" or "wall and floor professional" try and get a grey colour for darker tiles or a white adhesive for lighter tiles.
A 10mm trail should be fine.
The cutter you linked is a cheap and cheerful only 450w.
It might get you through it but might burn out on porcelain 10-14mm thick
i recommend at least 500w maybe Vitrex as they are quite cheap but ok and look for at least 180mm diameter blade.
Hope this helps

1. Please advise on adhesive.

A good cement based adhesive (bagged powder you mix yourself) suitable for porcelain tiles, check which stores have what stock in your area

2. For cutting I intend to use the Wickes wet cutter that is on special offer. Will this be up to the job?
Wickes *–*Tools, Ladders & Storage*–*Power Tools*–*Sawing and Carpentry Tools*–*450W Tile Cutting Saw

I would image that the blade wont be designed for porcelain tiles, most likley just ceramic, why not see how much it would cost to hire a suitable cutter from a local hire shop or tile shop.

3. Would a 10mm trowel be the correct size for a 40x40 floor tile?

10mm U notch trowel (solid bed thick bed), such as TradeTiler.Ltd Rubi Stainless Trowels

4. I'm in the Swindon/Chippenham area so a good supplier in that area would be nice to know about.

Hi mate im also in the chippenham area , so your best bet is to go to Topps Tiles wich is on the A4 road just past the big b&q. There is also a Topps in swindon , and a "Tile Store" in Devises

Topps do a "Bal" rapidset powder that i use on most floors (grey or White)
Tile store do a range of Mapie powder but never used it

Hope this helps and if you have any probs or need better directions to Topps then feel free to get in touch
