Hi to all, just after a little bit of friendly advice if anyone can be so kind as to give me some. might be doing floor if the estimate is accepted bathroom floor 5.7m2 customer has tiles adhesive and grout. T&G floor so ive told him needs to ply it and secure it down before tiles are put down....tricky now how much would you charge, not been doing tiling that long so speed is not up to full pelt im going for doing the right job at moment, your only as good as your last job and the customer might put a good word around :grouphug: any help please ...cheers

if the toilet and pedastel are in i would charge about 170 if it a fast floor no obstackles about about 120

HI Turtle I reckon 20 per m2 so i would say 120.
LIKE U i am just starting out just finsished my second bathroom 21 m2 took me -4 and a half days to tile.
I thought that was to long.
I guess i will speed up. good luck mate:yes:

when grouting floors what technique do u use ?
as it would take me much longer to grout 6 m2 than 20 min cheers mate

If the room is clear when your up to speed you will be cracking theese out in just over half a day. Personally i never go back to grout the next day. If the tiles wont move then grout em! I know some people prefer to go back though. never had any comebacks

Grouting floors to early..( as in adhesive hasn't had full set time) can cause efflorescence ....

What is efflorescence?. Efflorescence is the movement of moisture upward through portland cement beds and concrete slabs causing salts to rise to surface. Efflorescence causes grout discoloration.
Allow tile to set firmly before grouting. Grouting tile too soon, before the setting material has set-up, can lead to many problems. Uncured setting material may bleed through the joints and discolor the grout. Also, there is the risk of destroying the bond by shifting tiles. Allow as much time between settng and grouting as feasible. read setting times on bags. These can vary with temperatures..

i would charge 120 as it is only half a days work and 20mins the next day 2 grout
if you read his thread he's new to tiling so i would say he should go with 2 days at steady pace (speed comes with experience)
turtle tiling - use HARDI BACKER BOARDS from topps, screw it down every 300mm inch half screws, then you can tile straight onto it, (the boards are concrete dipped) then use flexi rapid set adhesive ! go in with a quote £180 for the 2 days!
good luck!
