Grouting floors to early..( as in adhesive hasn't had full set time) can cause efflorescence ....

What is efflorescence?. Efflorescence is the movement of moisture upward through portland cement beds and concrete slabs causing salts to rise to surface. Efflorescence causes grout discoloration.
Allow tile to set firmly before grouting. Grouting tile too soon, before the setting material has set-up, can lead to many problems. Uncured setting material may bleed through the joints and discolor the grout. Also, there is the risk of destroying the bond by shifting tiles. Allow as much time between settng and grouting as feasible. read setting times on bags. These can vary with temperatures..

i would charge 120 as it is only half a days work and 20mins the next day 2 grout
if you read his thread he's new to tiling so i would say he should go with 2 days at steady pace (speed comes with experience)
turtle tiling - use HARDI BACKER BOARDS from topps, screw it down every 300mm inch half screws, then you can tile straight onto it, (the boards are concrete dipped) then use flexi rapid set adhesive ! go in with a quote £180 for the 2 days!
good luck!

can you explain the method used to grout in 20 mins it would save me a load, surely the tiles will still be full of residue after such a short period of time:yes:
i mix my grout and dont have it very thick so it can b poured out of the bucket start at 1 corner work my way across and back maybe 2 tiles deep goin by1s/f tiles and wont take that long 2 do 5.7s/m
then go back with your damp sponge wipe about 6or8 tiles then rinseing out your sponge in a bucket of water bside u til you hav done the whole floor then do it again. there will b a light haze when it dries properly
then get paid and tel them to mope it in 4or5 hours
