Mr Tiler
I don't know if plumbers prices are allowed on here but can a couple of people send me some inboxes on how much plumbers charge for removing a sink and basin and replacing thanks
This is something you really need to learn for yourself mate. Plumbers are expensive, and can be unreliable, which will cost you in time. I'll pm you what I would charge to do it as part of the tiling job.. 😉
If I was the plumber asked to do that it would be full day rate.
What do you expect him to do in between time while you're tiling??
Surely DIY?
Nooooo can do beanz tilers tile plumbers plumb plasterers plaster , you gonna open a whole new can o beanz son
No harm in asking but you'd be better off just quoting for the tiling and getting the customer to arrange for their own plumber! That way you don't have to deduct tax, and pay before you get paid for doing the job!
So you finish the job , the plumber fits the sanitary ware back and the customer makes you wait for your money!I wouldn't pay before being paid anyway mate lol... but I suppose it would be better cheers... whatever happens on a job in particular the floor will have to come up as the tiles are on floor boards

'oh sorry Mr plumber but I can't pay you till I've been paid! Real world.
Recipe for disaster and a hard lesson to learn.well i supplied the materials for this job and didn't get paid until the fitter who employed me had been paid mate

yeh ok this customer i am guessing will want me to sort it i should be ok though i am actually making some decent contacts and all from one job! cheersTwo (real world) options:
1) Do it yourself but in my experience - always price to include new iso valves and pipes as they nearly always leak when shut off. Toilet will nearly always require a new donut washer too.
Price-wise: can we discuss on here?
2) Insist that the sanitary ware is removed before you start, and leave it for the customer to sort out.
Anything else is just a pain in my experience.

I can't say I've ever had to replace the Donut, but then, I don't take the cistern off of a close coupled wc. Just carry the whole thing out. I do get the occasional faulty isolator, but I wouldn't say the majority!?!

Let them source their own plumber or give them a number of a plumber.
Or hone the skills and cut round them.
I'll still cut round an old suite with fixed soldered pipe and no shut off unless they want to get a plumber in to remove it. Anything with a service valve comes out as long as the hose/pan connector will still fit the new height.
Yeah it's all fine until you get an air lockIt's ok doing it yourself (if you're not a plumber) until something goes wrong and you don't know how to solve it. I've had it before, bodged installations. Then the customer comes in, 'everything ok?' Horrible situation to be in!
