Hi All

I`m building a boxed bath surround that I`m going to tile, its approx 90mm wide. Now the bath goes into an alcove which has battens around the 3 walls supporting 2x1 treated timber which i`ve painted. And sealed against the bath sides & walls.
Then on top of that i`ve put 12mm thick wbp ply to build up the height for tiling, this is glued down to the 2x1 with No more nails. The ply i`ve primed with 2 coats of BAL primer. Then sealed again around the bath and the wall with flexible sealant.

Is this going to be ok to tile over now? I`m concerned about any warping of the plywood afterwards if water leaks through. Is there any recommendations for type of adhesive to use.
Also, there wont be any shower onthe bath, just a hand held attachment. So i`m not anticipating a lot of water spillage.

Hope that made sense :)
Thanks

Ply probably wasn`t the best choice mate, something like ****panel or tile backerboard would have been better. If not too late may be worth changing. As for adhesive if you`re tiling onto the timber it will need to be flexible. As there`s no power shower you will not need to tank the walls around the bath.

ok thanks. problem is its stuck down now, and will mean removing the bath to get it up . Would it be any good with a thin layer of ****panel covering the plywood and sealed?

thanks
