first time laying this type of tile how level does the floor hav 2 b.whats the best way 2 mix addy thick or thin so that i hav no steps in tiles as the edge of them r sharpe and how wide should i keep the joints and how much extra should i charge, much longer would it take to lay these.tiles 600x600

hi smokey mate....

Really the floor should be as flat as you can get it....
Fix tiles using a solid bed trowel no less than 10mm....back-skim the tiles to get a solid fix..use your level to make sure each row is flat and then the next rows won't kick at the edges etc....
A 3mm joint looks good with that format of tile but it's down to customer preference.....

good luck............

p.s. A tile sucker comes in handy when laying large tiles....

Hi Dave,

just curious with regards to the tile sucker, i have one and it came in useful for my tiles 315x450 but how big do the tiles have to get before you need two suckers on a tile. would you not get any slippage with 600x600s.

Cheers steve

you can get single or double tile suckers...some can lift more weight than others

I have a rubi one and it lifts about 45kg...

hope this helps....
