hi all, just layed and sealed white polished porcelain, (left overnight after sealing).grouted next day using a charcoal grout and find i have smears on tiles as looks like grout has penetrated tile, am i screwed or is there a remedy for this??? cheers!

What process and product did you use when sealing.

Did you remove any transit wax.?

i used fila polished porc sealer and flexi bal grout, no i did not remove wax first is this where i went wrong? if wax was not removed would grout be able to penetrate it?

Yes it would, as the transit wax would not allow the sealer to fill the capillaries of the tile..

Also just to add grouting to soon when the sealer has not gained full strength can contribute as well... does it say on the tin/bottle ow long before wetting of the sealer as in grouting etc.?

12 hours recomended drying time i left it overnight, i used a roller to apply but it frothed up so wiped it over with cloth.

Did you buff off any excess that didn't dry in..?

I know there is a drying time but how long before it is ok to wet the sealer after application.?

it said on tin 12 hours before grouting

I just checked and it says 24 hrs then you buff off, did you do that.?

Application
1. For protecting porcelain tiles and polished
natural stoneware: Use a flat brush
to spread an even coat of Fila MP/90
onto a clean and dry surface.
2. After 24 hours, when the floor is dry,
remove the excess using a single-disc professional
cleaner (white or beige disc) or a
household polisher fitted with felt pads.
3. Stubborn residues can be removed with
a cloth dipped in FilaSolv.
