Discuss Ponding in new shower floor in the Australia Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Our new shower floor does not fall to the drain! A large puddle sits next to the drain. The tiler has suggested removing the drain and the 4 tiles that surround it and replacing them. He said he could scrape out the grout around the 4 tiles, chisel out the 4 tiles. scrape away the glue under and grind down the screed bed so its fall is better. Then patch the waterproofing, install a new drain (lower) and glue down new tiles (with improved fall to the drain).
All this sounds good but Im not confident the waterproofing (which is on top of the screed bed) will ever be a waterproof seal, once it's been broken. Can waterproofing be patched? Im thinking the waterproofing membrane can only have integrity if done all in one go. Is that correct?

The waterproofing is called Hydro Ban ( https://www.laticrete.com/en/products/hydro-ban).

I appreciate any input or advice, particularly from tilers and waterproofers.

Pip
