Porcelian Tiling on Ceramic Tiles

I am trying to find out if I can tile 400x400 porcelian tiles on top of ceramic tiles in a shower area using a cement base adheisive. I already tiled one side using a tub of ordinary adhesive and then read one of these forums which said dont do it they wont stick which was very good advice as after three days I just peeled them off still wet. The old tiles are on plaster board well fixed and the tiles wont come of without the board.

You will almost certainly exceed the safe weight limits if you tile over tile with those porcelain tiles. Better to remove the old tiles and plasterboard and reboard throughout if you want to fix those tiles. It doesn't actually take that long to do! You will also need to use a polymer modified (flexible) cement based adhesive and flexible grout. it is also wise to prime the bare plasterboard first too. DO NOT SKIM OR PAINT the plasterboard before fixing the tiles.

Another concern is the shower area will be reduced by the additional layer of tiles laid, felt more so if the space is already tight.
